Mysore/Mysuru: The National Lok Adalat, organised as per the directions of National Legal Services Authority, began at the City and Taluk Courts across the district this morning.
This is the third National Lok Adalat of the year. The first one was held in March and the second one in May. As many as 13,315 cases that have been identified as pre-litigation and pending cases for settlement, will be taken up in today’s Lok Adalat.
The cases include pre-litigation cases pending in courts, all types of civil and compoundable criminal cases, money recovery cases, cases under Section 138 of Negotiable Instruments Act, labour dispute cases, motor accident claims, disputes related to public utility services, service matters including pensions, matrimonial disputes, revenue cases, land acquisition cases and other civil cases.
The Lok Adalat provides a platform where disputes between the parties involved are settled through a process of negotiation, counseling and mediation, without payment of any fee.
The Lok Adalat is being held at as many as 52 tables in Mysuru City and District Courts Complex and at the Malalavadi Court Complex in Jayanagar.
Principal District and Sessions Court Judge G.S. Sangreshi, who is also the Chairman of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Civil Judge and DLSA Member-Secretary B.G. Dinesh, Mysuru Bar Association President M. Mahadevaswamy and other office-bearers were present at the Adalat.
