Mysuru: The Rashtriya Lok Adalat will be held under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in city on July 13.
Announcing this at a press meet at the new Courts Complex in Malalavadi (Jayanagar) here this morning, Principal District and Sessions Judge Suresh K. Vantigodi said that the National Lok Adalat will take place at the new Courts Complex.
Pointing out that four Rashtriya Lok Adalats are scheduled for this year, with the first one held on March 9 and July 13 being the second, Judge Vantigodi said that the third will take place on Sept. 14 and the fourth on Dec. 14.
Noting that in the previous Lok Adalat held on March 9, over 1,400 civil and non-cognisable criminal cases were resolved, he said that there were 1,04,813 pending cases as of today in Mysuru district, with 62,000 cases registered in Mysuru city alone and the rest 42,000 in taluks of the district.
Expressing concern over rising cheque bounce cases, he said that there were more than 20,000 cheque bounce cases registered and the Lok Adalat will provide a platform to resolve cases related to monetary disputes, domestic disharmony, bank loan recovery, reinstation of staff, labour disputes, wage disputes, landed properties, issues pertaining to power, water and other utility bills etc.
Stating that 2,714 cases will be taken up for resolution during the July 13 Lok Adalat, he said that more litigants can register for the July 13 Adalat for early resolution of disputes.
Highlighting the benefits of Lok Adalat, he said that the initiative will help in saving money and time for both the litigants and the respondents and harmonious resolution of disputes.
