“The Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) has been contributing immensely to science by inventing new technologies which will help the future generation in food conservation,” said Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep here recently.

He was speaking after inaugurating the National Science Day Celebrations-2017 and a colloquium on ‘Current Food Safety and Regulatory Concerns’ at CFTRI premises in city.

Stating that CFTRI was providing nutritious food to 360 malnourished children in the district, he said that the institute has to come out with various programmes to create awareness on the kind of food to be consumed as there was a rapid increase in the number of people suffering from obesity and other non-communicable diseases.

He urged the CFTRI to also organise programmes on creating a healthy society.

DC Randeep also stressed the need of CFTRI coming out with farmer-friendly initiatives and also work towards implementing the new technologies for the benefit of the society.

On the occasion, Col. O.P. Kapoor, former Head, FS&AQCL and Director of Central Food Laboratory, CSIR-CFTRI, was felicitated. CFRTI Director Prof. Ram Rajasekaran was present.

On Mar. 3 and 4, CFTRI will be conducting a National-level Conference on malnutrition.
