Mysore/Mysuru: The Departments of Botany and Zoology, Teresian College, Mysuru, hosted a two-day National Seminar on “Recent Innovation and Sustainable Development in Biological Sciences” on May 14 and 15 at the College premises in Siddarthanagar.
The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. T.V. Ramachandra of Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.
Rev. Fr. Dr. S.J. Joji Reddy, President of Xavier Board of Higher Education and Principal of Loyola College, Hyderabad, was the guest of honour. Dr. Sr. Juanita, Director, presided. Dr. C. Jeyanti, Principal, Dr. Sr. Rohini, Financial Administrator and Vivek Charles, IQAC Coordinator were present. The proceedings of the National Seminar published in Teresian Publication were released on the occasion.
The seminar comprised technical sessions and panel discussions involving resource persons from renowned institutions — Dr. S. Shamsundar, Head, NIE-CREST, Mysuru; Dr. M.U. Sharief, Scientist – F, BSI Coimbatore; Dr. T.S. Harsha, Department of Environmental Science, KSOU, Mysuru and Dr. G. Vidya, Head, Zoology Department, St. Joseph’s College, Thrissur.
The seminar exposed the participants to diverse fields like Green Technologies, Conservation of Biodiversity, Urban Waste Pollution, Unconventional DNA Structures and their implications in cancer.
