Natl. Science Day: NCC Girls take rally, visit Karanji Lake, RMNH

Mysuru: NCC 3 KAR Girls Battalion as part of NCC Social Service and Community Development (SSCD) organised National Science Day through an awareness rally and visits to Karanji Lake and the Regional Museum of Natural History in city.

 A series of awareness activities were held to promote scientific temper and social responsibility among youth.

The rally, led by 100 enthusiastic NCC cadets, passed through main thoroughfares of the city  highlighting  the importance of science in everyday life and its role in national development.

This was followed by a cleanliness drive at Karanji Lake, emphasising environmental protection through scientific and sustainable practices. Lokesh, a forester, guided the cadets and explained the history  and biodiversity significance of Karanji Lake.

Later, the cadets were taken on an educational visit to the Regional Museum of Natural History, where they gained practical exposure to scientific concepts, models and innovations.

An informative lecture session was organised by Dr. Arjun Tiwari, Head of the Regional Museum of Natural History, focusing on the significance of biodiversity, ecology, and conservation through exhibits and educational programmes.

The programme was conducted in line with the National Science Day 2026 theme, “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat,” highlighting the vital role of women scientists in India’s progress.

The event was graced by Col. CPS Soemwal, Commanding Officer, 3 KAR Girls Battalion NCC, Mysuru. SM V. K. Mishra, ANOs and PI staff were present.

 The programme concluded with a recreational boating activity for the cadets.
