Mysore/Mysuru: The Department of English and IQAC, SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru, has organised a one-day National Seminar on ‘Between Traditions and Transitions: Cartographing Women’s Voices in Contemporary Indian Literature and Cinema’ tomorrow (Mar. 5) at 10 am at AVC–II, SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru.
The Seminar aims to critically explore women’s voices, agency and identity in contemporary Indian literature and cinema, highlighting feminist perspectives and cultural transitions.
The inaugural and keynote address ‘Step Out & Speak Up: Women in Literature’ will be delivered by Dr. Kavery Nambisan, renowned surgeon and novelist and the session will be presided over by Dr. T. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar, Hon. Secretary, Mahajana Education Society, Mysuru.
Principal Dr. B.R. Jayakumari and CEO and Academic Advisor Dr. S.R. Ramesh will be present.
The academic sessions will feature eminent scholars including Prof. Vijay Sheshadri, Dr. H. Kalpana Rao and Dr. H.K. Shivalingaswamy, covering themes related to autobiography, feminist negotiations and women’s representation in cinema.
The valedictory session will be presided over by Prof. C. Nirmala Prakash.
The seminar seeks to create a vibrant interdisciplinary platform for critical engagement with women’s narratives, cultural representation, and contemporary social realities, benefiting students, research scholars, teachers, and academicians across disciplines.
