Natl. Seminar on “Emerging Trends in Accounting and Taxation” begins

Mysuru: The two-day UGC-sponsored National Seminar on “Emerging Trends in Accounting and Taxation” organised by Community College and Post-Graduate Department of Commerce, Teresian College, was inaugurated this morning  by Dr. G. Kotreshwar, Professor, Department of Studies in Commerce, University of Mysore (UoM), in the Ave Maria Golden Jubilee Auditorium of the College in Siddarthanagar.

In his inaugural address, he stressed on  (1) the growth of accounting profession, (2) three challenges ahead of accounting education namely (i) globalisation of business, (ii) environmental concern that is, green accounting and (iii) ethical issues; and (3) four elements that are essential for any profession to excel namely (i) formal education, (ii) skill development, (iii) attitudinal change and (iv) research for innovation.

Dr. T. C. Simon, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Commerce, MAMO College, Mukkom, Khozhikode, Kerala, in his keynote address, stressed on the recent trends in higher education, emerging trends in commerce education and recent trends in taxation.

The valedictory address will be delivered by Dr. B. H. Suresh, Professor, Department of Studies in Commerce, Manasagangothri, on Apr.21 at 2.30 pm.
