NCC cadets clean Kukkarahalli Lake

Mysuru: Over 100 Cadets of NCC Mysuru carried out various activities at Kukkarahalli Lake here recently as part of Swachatha Abhiyan between 6.45 am and 9.30 am. They removed plastic and other wastes such as paper cups, plastic water bottles, wrappers etc., which were strewn around the Lake premises.

Later, Prof. S.L. Belagali, HoD, Environmental Science,  University of Mysore, gave a talk on effects of pollution on our environment. He highlighted the need of keeping the  surroundings clean and taking all measures to preserve the environment.

He said that a time may come soon where we are forced to carry oxygen cylinders just as we carry water bottles due to severe pollution.

The NCC cadets also created awareness among the public about the dangers of pollution on the environment and took out a march around the Lake carrying placards depicting effects of pollution and with a message to the general public to be aware.

University of Mysore Vice- Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, who was the chief guest, said that the NCC had taken a good initiative to clean the Lake surroundings and lauded the efforts of NCC cadets and Col. M.K. Belliappa, Group Commander of NCC Mysore.
