NCC cadets, NSS students donate blood

Mysuru: 13 Karnataka Battalion NCC had organised blood donation camp at KSOU campus to commemorate the NCC Day recently.

About 300 NCC cadets hailing from Mysuru and Chamarajanagar participated in the annual camp. Cadets along with staff donated  blood, under the supervision of K.R. Hospital Medical Officer Dr. Manjunath. Colonel R.R. Menon, Commander NCC Group Mysuru, Colonel Rajesh Kumar, Commanding Officer, 13 Kar Bn, ANOs and CTOs were present in this event. A total of 65 units of blood was collected, according to a press release from M. Mamatha Prasad (13 Kar Ban, NCC, Mysuru), CTO, Delhi Public School, Mysuru.

NSS Unit: Another blood donation camp was  organised by St. Philomena’s College NSS Unit in association with St. Joseph’s Hospital at  the College recently.  NSS camp co-ordinators were headed by William Joseph from the Department of English, who highlighted the significance of the blood donation camp.

College Principal Dr. Alphonsus D’Souza said, “Blood donation is the greatest contribution a man can ever give. 12 million units is the amount of blood required in India in which only 9 million units are collected and there is a shortage of 3 million units.” He called upon the youths to donate blood.
