Mysore/Mysuru: Cadets of 14 Karnataka Battalion NCC Mysore spent a part of their prize money in helping the children inmates of an orphanage in the city.
The cadets helped the inmates of Ashadayaka Seva Trust at B. M. Sri Nagar, Metagalli, in city with stationery materials, toys, books and clothes during their recent visit.
The day was filled with engaging activities and opportunities for the children to showcase their talents. Various activities, including painting, drawing and playing games and interaction were organised which brought immense joy to the children.
In addition to the fun-filled activities, the cadets conducted an informative session on the importance of education and career guidance. Sharing their personal experiences and stories, they motivated the children to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals. Senior Under Officer (SUO) Jahnavi said “It was a very purposeful day. I realised how lucky I was to have parents. Children here in ‘Ashadayaka Seva Trust’ live like a family, some of them have lost their parents, some of them miss their siblings and some don’t have anybody.”
SUO Aishwarya said “It was a special day for me and my sister Soundarya, as we had been helping the needy by distributing clothes, fruits and snacks, but today with the help of other cadets we organised this visit. Using a small contribution of Rs. 10,000 Chief Minister’s Prize money given for our RDC 2023, myself, my sister, Naveen and Nandish, purchased some stationery items, indoor game items and organised this social service activity.”
SUO K.M. Rakshita said that “The visit to this orphanage was a life changing experience as it filled me with emotions and sentiments. I too contributed from the prize money I received after winning NCC All India Sports Shooting Competition. I also gave some home-made food items to the children.”
Associate NCC Officer (ANO) Sumathi Patrick was also present.
