Kushalnagar: Amidst heavy rains and as there are signs of rains to continue, a team of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) will arrive in Kodagu by next week.
Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Dr. B.C. Satish told Star of Mysore that they had requested the NDRF to send a battalion for relief and rescue operations. “The NDRF team has been arriving in Kodagu during monsoon for many years and this year too, we had requested their presence. They are likely to arrive next week,” the DC said.
Usually, the Kodagu District Administration requests the NDRF team to camp for at least three months as a precautionary measure. Their stay is extended depending on the scale of the damage.
It may be recalled here that last year, a 25-member NDRF team from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh had camped at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Galibeedu in Madikeri. Along with NDRF, teams from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Army’s Dogra Regiment and Civil Defence too had come to Kodagu.
