Rotary Midtown presents H.S. Shivadevappa Memorial ‘Adarsha Raitha’ award to M.M. Kumar
Mysore/Mysuru: The present farming practices has not been yielding the desired revenue for the farmers and youngsters involved in farming are finding it tough to find a bride for themselves. Though, the issue seems to be trivial, it is turning out to be a social malady in rural areas, said Melukote MLA Darshan Puttannaiah.
He was speaking after presenting H.S. Shivadevappa Memorial ‘Adarsha Raitha’ award instituted by Rotary Mysore Midtown, to M.M. Kumar, a progressive farmer from Rampura village in Hullahalli, at an event held at Rotary Centre on JLB Road recently.
“It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure agriculture is made profitable and the Governments must also think in terms of changing the present farming system to help young farmers meet their family demands,” he said.
Stating that the entire farming community was being honoured by felicitating progressive farmer Kumar, Darshan Puttannaiah said, it was time for changing farming system being adopted by the farmers and advised farmers to adopt mixed crop system, producing by-products from agriculture produces, animal husbandry to increase the revenue.
He also said that appropriate prices should be fixed by the authorities for naturally cultivated crops and slowly phase out the crops cultivated by using chemicals.
