Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that the NEET-UG results announced on June 4 had raised several questions on the transparency of the entrance exam for admission to Medical Colleges, the All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) staged a protest near the Old Deputy Commissioner’s Office here yesterday, demanding a high-level probe into the alleged irregularities in the conduct of NEET exam-2024.
The protesters pointed out that the marks awarded to some students were not in line with examination guidelines of University Grants Commission (UGC).
Contending that the guidelines made no provision for additional marks, AIDSO students said the criteria adopted for the award of additional marks or grace marks was biased.
Terming the uniform marks obtained by students who had appeared for NEET at the same centre as ‘surprising’, the protesters claimed that there were also allegations of leak of question papers before the exam. But this did not lead to an investigation, they said, while also alleging that the NEET-2024 results were marred by allegations of corruption and lack of transparency.
Charging that the entire medical entrance exam is collapsing due to the negligence of the Government and complete commercialisation of the examination system, they argued that the solution to the menace of corruption was not changing the exam system, but to investigate corruption and irregularities and punish the guilty.
AIDSO office-bearers Chandrakala, Nitin, Swathi, Chandrika, Hema, Anjali and others took part in the demonstration.
