Mysuru: Vijayanagar Police, yesterday arrested the accused in the murder of Security Guard Puttamadappa alias Madashetty (60) on Feb. 23 night in Railway Layout here.

Ironically, the accused identified as 45-year-old Raju, is the son of Puttamadappa’s brother.

It is learnt that victim Puttamadappa, a resident of Kumbarakoppal and Raju were indulged in a property dispute pertaining to a site and both of them used to fight frequently over the issue.

On Friday at about 7 pm, Puttamadappa was standing near an under-construction house at Railway Layout near Surya Bakery, when Raju allegedly hit him on the head with a cement brick and killed him. Raju had fled from the spot.  

Vijayanagar Police, who had rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, registered a case and had shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem and began investigations.

Based on the clues, the Police took Raju into their custody and interrogated him during which he (Raju) is said to have confessed of murdering Puttamadappa, according to the Police.
