Mysore/Mysuru: Pushpa Gururaj, a Member of the Inner Club of Mysore, is all set to take charge as District Chairman of Inner Wheel District – 318, which comprises 8 Revenue Districts of Karnataka (Chamarajanagar, Mysuru, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagalur, Shivamogga and Hassan).
There are 45 Clubs and around 1,500 members in this District. The term of office will be from 1st July 2021 to 30th June 2022.
Inner Wheel is an International organisation, an offshoot of Rotary International, one of the largest women’s voluntary Organisations. It is active in more than 99 countries, with more than 1,08,614 members from 3,979 clubs. Inner Wheel District – 318 is the 3rd District to be established in India during 1967- 68. Late Sheila Irani was one of the main persons behind the formation of this District as well as the first Inner Wheel Club in Mysore. She was also the President of the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in India during 1980-81.
Pushpa Gururaj, an active member of the Club for the last 31 years, has held various responsibilities at Club and District levels, before leading the District as Chairman. The new team led by District Chairman Pushpa, Vice-Chairman – Kavitha Niyath, AC Member – Varija Jagadeesh, Secretary – Poornima Ravi, Treasurer – Vaishali Kudva, Extension Service Organiser – PDC. Dr. Sarika Prasad, ISO – Rajani Bhat, Editor – Shabari Kadidal, will be installed by Association President Saroj Katiyar on the Zoom platform on July 14.
