New generation should take forward our rich culture and heritage: MP Yaduveer

Mysore/Mysuru: Regretting that the new generation is forgetting our rich culture and heritage of the past, MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar said that the youths should remember our ancestors.

He was speaking after inaugurating the felicitation, Pratibha Puraskar and student scholarship distribution programme, organised jointly by Hoysala Karnataka Sangha and Hoysala Karnataka Sangha Charitable Trust as part of its Founders Day at Saptapadi Kalyana Mantapa in Vijayanagar first stage here yesterday.

“The Hoysala community has maintained its special celebrations, practices and culture. The community is also known for its hospitality and pride. Also, the community has maintained a distinctive style of attitude and spoken language,” Yaduveer said.

Noting that the Hoysala Karnataka community has been maintaining harmony with all other communities, the MP said that the community has contributed a lot for the growth of the country. The community has also maintained a cordial relationship with Mysore Palace for generations, he added.

Continuing, Yaduveer said that the co-operation of the people is important for Mysuru to retain its identity as a Heritage city. “The Lakshmipuram building of Hosyala Sangha is a heritage one and he has fond memories of it. I have come to know of the developmental activities of Hoysala community and I would extend support to its activities,” he asserted.

Eighty elderly members of Hoysala community aged above 80 years were felicitated, 20 members of the Founder’s family were honoured, Pratibha Puraskar was presented to 20 meritorious students and student scholarship was distributed to 20 talented students of the community on the occasion.

MLA T.S. Srivatsa, Association President K.R. Satyanarayana, Mysuru District Brahmins Association President D.T. Prakash, writer A.V. Suryanarayanrao and others were present.
