Kanchipuram: Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetadhipati Jagadguru Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal will bless Sanyasa Deeksha to Sri Duddu Satya Venkata Surya Subrahmanya Ganesha Sharma Dravid on the auspicious Akshaya Tritiya day (Apr. 30) at Kanchipuram.

The sacred event coincides with the 2534th Jayanti Mahotsavam (May 2, 2025) of Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya who established Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in the year 482 BCE.

Sri Ganesha Sharma Dravid, aged 25 and a Rig Vedic Scholar (Salakshana Ghanapati) from Annavaram Kshetra, Andhra Pradesh, served at Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam, Basara, Nirmal District, Nizamabad, Telangana. He has had the blessings of Pujya Shri Shankaracharya Swamigal of Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, right from his time of initiation into Vedic studies in 2006.

Sri Ganesha Sharma Dravid has also completed Yajurveda, Samaveda, Shadangas, Dashopanishat and has been pursuing Shastric studies.

Special pujas in Mysuru

The devotees of Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt, Mysuru, have welcomed the announcement of the new Peetadhipati. Mysore Kanchi Mutt premises and Kanchi Kamakshi Aramane Rama Temple (near Marimallappa School) will be celebrating Sanyasa Deeksha of the Pontiff with special pujas at Mysuru Temple from 6.30 pm.
