New team for ‘Spoorthi’

Mysuru:  Installation of new office-bearers of ‘Spoorthi,’ ladies wing of Builders Association of India (BAI), Mysuru Chapter, which works for the betterment of construction workers and their families, was held at a private hotel in city recently.Spoorthi

Well-known advocate and member of various organisations M.N. Sumana was the chief guest. BAI Chairman K. Subramanya Rao was the guest of honour.

Shvetha Dinesh took over as the President of ‘Spoorthi’ for the year 2018-19 from outgoing President Nirmala Shekar.

The other office-bearers are Anitha Sridhar (Vice-President), Reena Praveen Pal (Secretary), Manjula Revani (Treasurer) and Past President K. Geethashree, Geethika Daraira, Mala Kishen, Rama Srikanth and Nandini Naidhruva (all EC Members).

New members were also inducted on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest Sumana said: “Equal pay for common labour irrespective of the gender is the need of the hour. Programmes from Association must have vision and not stick on to the year planner. The Association must come forward and play a responsive role in burning issues of society including sexual harassment and female foeticide.”

Mahadevswamy, Past President of BAI, Mysuru Chapter, released the book report of ‘Spoorthi’ (2017-18). Rekha read out the annual report. Nirmala Shekar proposed a vote of thanks.
