‘New technologies in agriculture should reach every farmer’

Mysore/Mysuru: A day-long National Symposium on “Regenerative Agriculture — A Sustainable Technology for Global Food Production” for Life Science Teachers, Research Scholars and Post-Graduate students was organised by PG Department of Biochemistry and Department of Biotechnology, JSS Science and Technology University in association with Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA) at JSS College, Ooty Road, in city on May 27.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive, JSS College, in his keynote address stressed on soil health, scope of research in agriculture and increase of food production. He also mentioned about importance of regenerative agriculture in modern day.

N.M. Shivashankarappa, Director, Horticulture Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, in his presidential remarks called upon the youths to spread awareness of newer technologies for solving the problems of food scarcity and land availability. He also stressed on need for the use of technologies by the farmers.

Dr. B.V. Latha, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Biochemistry, welcomed. C.S. Prerana proposed a vote of thanks. DVSK Manasa Priya rendered the invocation. S. Sahana moderated the event. Prof. Vijayendra Kumar, Principal, Prof. N. Haraprasad, Department of Biotechnology, JSS Science and Technology University and Dr. M. Chethan Kumar, Chairman, PG Department of Biochemistry were present.

Around 160 delegates participated in the technical sessions conducted by Dr. M.T. Sanjay and Dr. R. Muthuraju, eminent Scientists from University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bengaluru.
