Mandya: In a tragic incident, a young couple, who had reportedly got married just four days ago, was killed in a road accident near Yeliyur on Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway last evening.
The deceased couple have been identified as Sahana (19) and Darshan (24) of Ramanagaram.
The two were said to be travelling towards Ramanagaram from Mysuru on a motorcycle, when they crashed into a KSRTC bus even as Darshan who was riding the motorcycle attempted to overtake a lorry moving ahead near Yeliyur at about 7 pm, it is learnt.
Due to the impact of the collision, Sahana died at the spot, while Darshan, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to Mandya District Hospital. But Darshan too died en route while being shifted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru late last night.
The Mandya Rural Police have registered a case in this regard.
Sahana of Ramanagaram town and Darshan of a village in Ramanagaram taluk were said to be is love for the past couple of years and had left their homes two months ago, when their parents lodged a missing complaint at Ramanagaram Police Station.
But the duo appeared before the Women’s Police Station on Wednesday, claiming that they had got married four days ago, following which they were let off by the Police.
After making a submission at the Police Station on their marriage, the duo reportedly came to Mysuru and were travelling back to Ramanagaram when the tragedy struck them.
