Raga Vaibhava to present Grand Karnatak Violin Concert in city tomorrow

Mysuru’s premier Music Sabha “Raga Vaibhava” is organising a Grand Karnatak Violin Concert on Feb.24 by the popular and leading violinist brothers Vid. Mysore M. Nagaraj and Vid. Dr. Mysore M. Manjunath at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha Auditorium, JLB Road, at 6 pm.

The accompanying artistes are Vid. Thiruvarur Bhakthavatsala on mridanga and Vid. Giridhar Udupa on ghata.

The brothers Vid. Nagaraj and Vid. Manjunath are the sons of late Vid. Mahadevappa, who was a direct disciple of the well-known Violin maestro of India, late Vid. Chowdaiah. The two brothers are illustriously carrying on the tradition established worldwide by Chowdaiah and have carved a niche for themselves in the world of music by their individual as well as joint performances. Both are ‘A’ top artistes of All India Radio and Manjunath is also a Professor of Music in the Mysore University and spreading the fragrance of Karnatak music across the continents.

All major music Sabhas in the country have had programmes of the brothers who have                                                                created unrivalled record as star performers in prestigious organisations — from Royal Albert Hall London to Sydney Opera House of Australia. The Americas, Italy and even Middle Eastern countries have invited them to give performances. Dr. M. Manjunatha holds a Master of Music degree in violin from Mysore Varsity.  

Off the stage, the brothers are earthy in nature and their worldwide reputation has only enhanced their cool composure towards the city of their birth, when they mingle with the fellow citizens of Mysuru as good friends.
