Mysuru:  Following the death of a newly-wedded couple in JSS Layout here yesterday and the Mysuru South Police finding the body of the husband hanging from a ceiling fan in a room after they peeped through the window, the Police had to wait till the arrival of the guardians of the woman, as they had appealed to the Cops not to break open the door till they arrive.

The Mysuru South Police personnel, led by Inspector Jagadeesh, who finally broke open the door of the house after the arrival of the guardians at about 4 pm yesterday, found the body of the women lying in another room.

They then shifted the bodies to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.

The deceased couple Veeresh (30) was working as a Junior Health Assistant at a PHC in Kupya village and Ashalatha (28), a housewife and a resident of Bhadravathi. They got married on Apr. 13, 2017.

When the Police broke open the door they saw the body of Ashalatha lying in another room and empty strips of Malaria tablets were found in the room.

It is suspected that Ashalatha may have consumed about 60 tablets and had died on Saturday midnight. Meanwhile, Manjula, the foster mother of Ashalatha, said that she never saw Veeresh as her son-in-law but as one among her sons.

She said that she had worked hard as a nurse to bring up her children and had provided them good education. Ashalatha, after being encouraged by Manjula, had completed B.Com, M.Com, BA and MCA courses.

Chandrappa, father of Veeresh, said that Veeresh had called his mother over the phone on Saturday night and had talked to her. He added that there were no differences between the couple.

Following a complaint from Ashalatha’s guardians, Inspector Jagadeesh has registered a case. The bodies were handed over to the family members of the deceased after the   post-mortem today.
