Newspaper distribution point shifted to City Bus Stand

Mysore/Mysuru: The Newspaper arrangement and central distribution, which used to take place near Dufferin Clock Tower (Chikkagadiyara) in the early morning hours daily, has now been temporarily shifted to nearby City Bus Stand (CBS), as a COVID precautionary measure.

As congestion and gathering of people was a common  sight  everyday near the Dufferin Clock Tower, the Mysuru District Newspaper Distributors Association had appealed Mysuru City KSRTC Divisional Controller Nagaraj seeking permission for distribution at the CBS, which is now lying vacant due to non-operation of buses owing to COVID lockdown, on a temporary basis.

As the KSRTC authorities gave nod to the appeal, the arrangement and distribution of newspapers will take place at the CBS starting from today (Saturday), according to Association President Suresh.

In the past, the newspaper arrangement and distribution used to take place at Lansdowne Building. But after the building  was sealed off following the collapse of a portion in 2012, the distribution was shifted to Dufferin Clock Tower, located closeby.

But now the distribution has been temporarily shifted to the CBS as a COVID precautionary measure. Meanwhile, the MCC Commissioner has assured to identify an appropriate place for central distribution of newspapers.
