Newspaper Distributors seek Rs. 5 crore budgetary allocation for Welfare Fund

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru Newspaper Distributors Welfare Association has urged the Government to allot Rs. 5 crore towards Karnataka State Newspaper Distributors Welfare Fund in the forthcoming State budget.

In a press release, the Asso-ciation said that the Siddha-ramaiah headed Congress Government had allotted Rs.2 crore towards Newspaper Distributors Kalyana Nidhi (Welfare Fund). Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa should now allot Rs.5 crore for the fund in this year’s (2021-22) budget. 

Maintaining that newspaper distributors have to battle with vagaries of nature in the door delivery of newspapers to readers and subscribers daily, the release said that the Government must also list newspaper agents and distributors under the unorganised sector.
