Newspaper Sections in Central Public Libraries closed frequently?

Sir,

In Jayanagar, Bengaluru, the Newspaper Sections of Central Public Libraries work on all 365 days without any holidays.  But in Mysuru Public Libraries, Newspaper Sections will be closed for more than 8 days in a month.

As Newspaper Sections are utilised by students / user public and newspapers are to be read on a day-to-day basis, how can this Section remain closed for more than  2 to 3 days very frequently and more than 8 days in a month and more than 100 days in a year?

Further, the Deputy Director of Public Libraries in Mysuru has stated that, user public should not bring any bags to Libraries. As the user public will remain in Libraries for several hours, how the user can be barred from bringing any essential bags with umbrellas etc., which will be kept in a corner, as is the practice.

I request the Mysuru District-in-Charge Minister / MLAs / MP / Deputy Commissioner / Director of Libraries / Deputy Director of Libraries, to take a call on the above issues and initiate necessary action, immediately in the interest of user public, as libraries are funded out of tax- payers’ money.
