Next, Fire Department to have women too

Bengaluru: For the first time in the history of 82 years, Department of Fire and Emergency Services, has decided to accommodate women, foregoing the tag of being men’s only unit in the State.

The higher-ups of Fire and Emergency Services Department have recommended to the State Government to provide 10 percent reservation for women in the recruitment conducted for the Department. Presently, the women staff in the Department are deputed only for desk jobs. Now in a significant step, the Department has decided to involve women in the foot job too, making them a part of frontline operations, it is said.
