NGOs groomed on child rights

Mysuru: District Administration, together with the Department of Women and Child Welfare, had organised a workshop on ‘Child rights and laws protecting children’ for members of NGOs at Sthree Shakti Bhavan in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage here on Tuesday.

About 100 members of 17 organisations participated in the workshop who were groomed on child rights, Right To Education  (RTE) Act, ills of child labour, child marriage and relevant topics pertaining children.

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Member Secretary Mohammed Muzirullah, who inaugurated the workshop, asked the members of NGOs to be thorough with child rights.

He pointed out that education was vital for all children and added that RTE Act was a good implementation of the Government to ensure education for children.

He asked NGOs to be familiar with laws protecting children especially the under-privileged.

Department of Women and Child Welfare Deputy Director K. Radha presided. JSS law College CEO Suresh, Sthree Shakti Okkuta President Prema Kumari, District Child Protection Committee Chairperson Kamala, Superintendents of Bala Mandiras and others were present.
