Mandya/ Mysuru: Even as the Lok Sabha Polls is drawing near, Mandya politics is getting hotter with each passing day, hitting headlines almost every other day.
On Saturday, JD(S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and his (Nikhil) MLA mother Anitha Kumaraswamy met senior Congress leader and former MP G. Madegowda at the latter’s residence at Bandigowda Layout in Mandya. Nikhil fell at the feet of the veteran Congress leader and sought his blessings.
G. Madegowda, who is also a former Minister, is actively involved in Cauvery Ulisi Horata Samiti. The veteran Congress leader is said to have wished good luck for Nikhil.
The mother-son duo later met former Minister and another senior Congress leader M.S. Atmananda and sought his support in the LS polls.
Anitha and Nikhil Kumaraswamy were accompanied by MP L.R. Shivaramegowda, MLCs Srikantegowda, Appajigowda and a host of other JD(S) leaders.
Nikhil seeks ex-Speaker Krishna’s support
Continuing his spree of meeting political leaders from Mandya to seek their support, JD(S) candidate from Mandya Nikhil Kumaraswamy on Saturday met former Speaker Krishna (Popularly known as K.R. Pete Krishna) at the latter’s residence in Mysuru on Saturday.
Nikhil and his mother Anitha Kumaraswamy visited Krishna’s residence at Kuvempunagar in city and sought his support.
During the meeting, Krishna, a former K.R. Pet MLA, is said to have assumed his full support.
Later speaking to press persons at Mysuru, Nikhil said he was given a warm reception by the people wherever he went for poll campaign in Mandya.
Maintaining that he and Abhishek, son of Sumalatha-Ambarish actor couple, were good friends, Nikhil said that politics was different. However, he would not let the LS Polls turn their friendship sour, he said and added that he and Abhishek would continue with their close friendship in the future too.
Pointing out that he was the JD(S)-Congress coalition candidate in Mandya, Nikhil expressed confidence that the people of Mandya would elect him with a huge margin.
