Mysuru: The threat of Nipah virus which has claimed 14 lives in Kerala and has also entered Karnataka is a cause for concern and to mitigate the fears of the people, an awareness programme was conducted by Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) at Cheluvamba Park, here yesterday.
District President of KRV and BJP leader K. Madesh launched the programme. The members distributed pamphlets describing in details about Nipah virus, to the people who had come to the Park for exercise.
Later, speaking to Star of Mysore, Madesh said that the members would conduct awareness programme twice a day and also highlight to the people not to eat fruits sold on the street. Awareness programme was also held in the park in Gokulam.
KRV members Kaushik, Rani and even school children participated. A few of the foreigners who had come to the park also showed their support for the cause.
