NMC Bill: Doctors to stage stir tomorrow

Mysuru: Following a nation-wide call by Indian Medical Association (IMA) for withdrawal of services by Allopathy Medical Doctors in protest against the NMC Bill, the doctors will strike work in city tomorrow (Aug.8).

In a press release, the IMA Mysuru Branch said that the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill-2019 in the current format was unacceptable to the medical fraternity.

Claiming that the community health providers envisaged in the NMC Bill-2019 posed a direct threat to thousands of poor, vulnerable and marginalised rural patients, the IMA urged the Government of India to engage the Allopathy medical fraternity in a meaningful dialogue and address the issue at the earliest.

The release further said that medical students will continue their strike across the country under IMA Medical Students Network.

It may be mentioned here that doctors had also staged a stir earlier over the same issue on July 31.
