“We cannot build Police Stations near your houses,” says Dr. A S. Rao at Weekly Parade
Mysuru: In a stern warning to Police Officers and Constables seeking internal transfers, City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subramanyeshwara Rao has said that he will not encourage inter-departmental transfer requests. “Teams and personnel are expected to work where they are posted and I will take action against those who come to me with transfer requests,” he said.
Addressing the Weekly Parade of Police Officers at the City Armed Reserve Grounds here this morning, the city’s top cop said that he often receives such inter-department transfer requests.
“Officers want to shift from Law and Order to Traffic Department, CCB to Traffic, Traffic to Civil Police Department and vice-versa. They cite various excuses like transfer will help them move closer home. You all must work at the place of posting as we cannot build Police Stations near your house,” he said.
The Weekly Parade began at 6.30 am and went on till 8.30 am and the Commissioner spoke about various aspects of law and order and crime prevention. He asked his Officers to summon all the rowdy-sheeters in their jurisdiction and make them write an undertaking that they would not indulge in anti-social activities. “Once they write the bond, track their activities and make them responsible if there is a law and order issue or if there is any criminal activities,” he told the Officers.
“Include budding rowdies in the rowdy-sheeter list and take action as per law. Warn them that they should not indulge in usury, eve-teasing, real estate dealings, money extortion and other illegal activities,” he said and added that after a break, the city was witnessing a spate of chain-snatching. “This is because of your laxity,” he opined.
On crime detection, the Police Commissioner said that the detection rate was coming down drastically. “This has been noted by the DG & IGP R. K. Dutta when he came to Mysuru last week. He has given a target to clear pending cases and we are bound by it,” he said.
DCP (Law and Order) Dr. H.T. Shekar, DCP (Crime) N. Rudramuni, CAR DCP B.V. Kittur, all the ACPs, Inspectors and ASIs were present.
