Bengaluru: Asserting that there was no question of disbanding Sangolli Rayanna Brigade, senior BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa has lashed out at party MP Shobha Karandlaje for making a reference to the Brigade.
Eshwarappa, who is learnt to have spoken with his close associates after the 2-day State BJP Executive Meet which was held at Mysuru on May 6 and 7, said that the BJP had not received a setback anywhere because of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade.
Maintaining that the Brigade was working towards consolidating the Backward Class vote base in favour of the BJP, Eshwarappa reiterated that there was no question of halting the Brigade activities.
Expressing anguish over Shobha Karandlaje’s remark that the Brigade would be disbanded as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wish, he maintained that the Brigade would not stop functioning if someone gives some statement.
Dismissing JD(S) State President Kumaraswamy’s allegation that the BJP High Command had given a free-hand for Eshwarappa to carry on Brigade activities, Eshwarappa is said to have told his associates that BJP National President Amit Shah had given green signal for continuing the Brigade as a non-political entity.
