Chief Minister dismisses allegations against son

Mysuru: Dismissing charges of money-laundering and benami property transactions against his son Dr. Yathindra Siddharamaiah, Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has said that the complaint filed with the IT Department seeking a probe against his son was politically motivated. Speaking to press persons at his Ramakrishnanagar residence here this morning, the CM said that he had never heard the name of the complainant Varthur Kanakadasa, who is said to be an RTI activist.

Pointing out that his son Dr. Yathindra had travelled abroad only once, he wondered whether it was possible for a person to invest abroad on his/her first visit, while dismissing all charges made in the complaint against his son.

Replying to a question on the probable exit of senior Congress leader A.H. Vishwanath from the party, Siddharamaiah asserted that Vishwanath had not spoken to him and he too had not spoken to the former MP either.

When his attention was drawn to Vishwanath’s allegations against his administration, the CM said that he would not comment on Vishwanath’s remarks and added that the Congress High Command was monitoring his administration.

Announcing that he has convened an all-party meeting on Cauvery row at Bengaluru today, Siddharamaiah said that the meeting will discuss in depth all issues related to the Cauvery row.

Later, the CM received petitions and heard grievances from the public who had gathered in large numbers near his house to meet him. The CM, who gave a patient hearing to the people’s grievances, directed the officials to look into the petitions and take spot decisions wherever possible.

The Police had a tough time in controlling the crowd, as people jostled to meet the CM. Thereafter, the CM left for Bengaluru from Lalitha Mahal helipad.
