No visibility of road dividers at Nanjangud; No reflectors

March 2, 2024

Sir,

We encountered a concerning issue during our recent journey from Coimbatore to Mysuru via Nanjangud. It was only 7.30 pm, yet the road divider was barely visible due to the darkness and the blinding glare of high beam lights from vehicles on the opposite side.

This lack of visibility seriously threatens the safety of both vehicles and passengers. It’s perplexing to see such a critical safety aspect overlooked despite the substantial funds allocated for road repairs annually.

The absence of reflectors or painted road dividers, as well as clear road strips along the edges, should be integral components of the budgetary estimates prepared by experienced executive engineers. After all, isn’t ensuring public safety paramount?

Moreover, the absence of signboards at major junction crossings exacerbates the situation. Drivers are left with no choice but to stop and ask for directions from pedestrians or rely solely on navigation apps like Google Maps, creating unnecessary obstacles for everyone on the road.

Even at places like the Bogadi signal on the Ring Road, where some signage exists, its partial disappearance adds to the confusion and ambiguity.

These issues must be addressed promptly to ensure the safety and convenience of all road users.
