Non-adherence to instructions of Health Department

Licences of 110 medical stores cancelled in State including four in Mysuru

Mysore/Mysuru: Four medical stores in city are among 110 medical stores in the State, whose licenses have been cancelled for not following the instructions of the Health Department.

The Health Department had issued instructions to collect the details of those purchasing cold, cough and fever drugs and upload the details to a designated web portal, which would help identify Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) patients.

The Drugs Controller Department officials had also provided the User ID and Password to every medical store in the State besides providing training to the medical staff on uploading the details.

But the officials of the Drugs Controller Department, who conducted surprise checks on medical stores across the State, found many medical stores violating the instructions.

The officials themselves collected the details of customers purchasing cold, cough and fever drugs and have uploaded the details to the designated web portal and suspended licenses of 110 medical stores in the State including four in Mysuru district, 70 in Kalaburagi district, four in Bidar district, 15 in Vijayapura district, nine in Raichur district and five medical stores in Bagalkot district, according to a press release from Additional Drugs Controller Amaresh Tumbagi.
