Sir,
I was at Muktidhama, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, on 21.8.2025, to attend the funeral of Raju Chengappa, resident of Ramakrishnanagar H Block, Mysuru (Retired Chief Officer, TMC, Government of Karnataka). The time given to us was 12 noon.
However, by the time the body, relatives, family and friends reached the crematorium, another cremation was already taking place at the same time.
The employee at Muktidhama simply asked us to wait and then left the premises. As a result, all the senior citizens, ladies and well-wishers had to wait with the body for over two hours. During this period, the grieving wife of Raju Chengappa fell unconscious and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Finally, the in-charge person arrived only at 2 pm, and the last rites were conducted thereafter. This unfortunate delay was caused by the negligence of staff and the non-functioning of other electric cremation equipment at Muktidhama.
I sincerely hope the Commissioner of the Mysuru City Corporation will take note of this incident and initiate corrective measures, so that grieving families and relatives are not subjected to such unnecessary mental tension and hardship in the future.
