Not challenging CM’s leadership: Dr. Parameshwara clarifies

November 22, 2024

Mysuru: Following his remarks about potential political shifts, which sparked widespread speculation, Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara clarified this morning that his statements were misunderstood.

Speaking at Southern Star Hotel in Mysuru, Dr. Parameshwara said, “My statements were taken out of context. I never said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s leadership would change. The Government in the State is stable and Siddaramaiah’s leadership will continue.”

Dr. Parameshwara, known for his open political ambitions, has acknowledged many times before the media that he hoped to become the Chief Minister one day and there was nothing wrong in it. But in the wake of a fresh controversy following his remarks yesterday, he denied any intention to challenge Siddaramaiah’s position.

When asked about the possibility of him becoming CM, Dr. Parameshwara laughed and replied, “Why are you teasing me? I have already stated that Siddaramaiah will be the CM for five years. There is no question of me becoming CM.”

Regarding disciplinary action against Waqf Minister Zameer Ahmed, Dr. Parameshwara clarified, “The Party President will take action. It is their authority.”

As for a potential Cabinet reshuffle, he stated, “The high command will make the decision. They have asked for report cards from all Ministers, and I’ve submitted mine. The High Command will decide who will stay and who will go.”
