Not mist, but a smoke screen

Even as cities like New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru are grappling with air pollution and thick smog covering the atmosphere early in the morning, our city of Mysuru is not far behind.

This picture of sun’s rays penetrating through smoke was captured by freelance photographer G.S. Ravishankar near the Institution of Engineers, on the road that leads to Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

Almost every day, heaps of garbage and leaf waste are set on fire in this area covering the locality with thick smoke.
