Ramachandra, who was recently conferred the prestigious ‘Kumaravyasa Award’ by the State Government and his wife Vidushi Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra were felicitated by city’s ‘Parampare’ organisation at a programme held at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road here on Tuesday.
Delivering the felicitation address, Sanskrit Scholar Dr. H.V. Nagaraja Rao said that Gamaki form of art had a special place among the State and country’s cultural landscape.
Pointing out that Gamaka is a unique form of art in its own sense, he said that it has earned a special place as it contains Shatpadi Sahitya which is not found in Sanskrit literature too.
Noting that the credit for spreading the fragrance of Gamaka art beyond Mysuru should go to Krishnagiri Krishnarao, Dr. Nagaraj Rao said now his (Krishnarao) son K. Ramachandra has tread the path of his father in taking Gamaka art to the entire world.
Stating that Ramachandra, though a Government engineer by profession, had great love for the art, he said Ramachandra has been rightly conferred the Award by the State Government, in recognition of his promotion of the art.
Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji graced the occasion. Nadoja T.V. Venkatachala Shastry and others were present.
