Mysuru: During Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah’s visit to the garbage dumping site along Lalithadripura Road, MCC Commissioner M.K. Savitha was shocked to find large quantities of expired syrup bottles and other oral medicines dumped at the site.
Expressing concern over the potential danger posed by the discarded medicines, she said they could pose a serious risk to public health if consumed accidentally.
She directed the Corporation’s Health Officers to examine the labels, batch numbers and other details on the bottles to trace the source of the medicines.
The officials were asked to identify the medical shops that may have supplied or disposed of the medicines and issue notices to them.
Savitha also instructed the officials to issue notices to pharmaceutical companies and distributors and use the batch numbers to trace the source of the discarded medicines and identify those responsible for dumping them.
