Mysore/Mysuru: Urging the Government to bring them under Old Pension scheme (OPS), the Karnataka State NPS (New Pension Scheme) employees association will take out a padayatra in the city tomorrow (Dec.10).
Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, Association’s Mysuru District President S.R. Manjunath said that the Padayatra will be launched in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Palace North Gate at 11 am. The Padayatra will pass through K.R. Circle and other main thoroughfares in the Central Business district, before reaching Jaladarshini Guest House on Hunsur Road, where a memorandum will be submitted at the office of elected representatives.
Pointing out that employees who joined Government service after Apr.1, 2006 have been brought under NPS, Manjunath maintained that the NPS is against the interests of employees. As such, the Government should bring them under OPS, he said adding that the NPS is in no way beneficial to pensioners and their families. He further said that there are 12,500 NPS employees in the district and 3,000 of them are expected to take part in the Padayatra tomorrow. It has also been planned to launch an indefinite stir at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park from Dec.19 until the demand for OPS is met, he added.
Association Office-bearers Shivakumar, Yeshwanth, Sridhar, Muralikrishna, Revanna and Mahadev were present at the press meet.
