Mysuru: Prof. A.V. Narasimha Murthy (AVN), former Head, Department of Ancient History & Archaeology, University of Mysore, has been awarded Silver Medal by Banaras Hindu University-based Numismatic Society of India at its Annual Conference held at Goa last week. This medal has been awarded to Prof. AVN for his outstanding contributions to Indian Numismatics.

Prof. A.V. Narasimha Murthy, who is also the Chairman of Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Mysuru, has received many awards in the previous years but this medal is for his life-time achievement in Indian Numismatics, according to Dr. Raja Reddy, Vice-Chairman, Hyderabad Numismatic Society of India.

Since Prof. AVN was unable to attend the Goa Conference, the medal will be presented to him during the 28th Conference of South Indian Numismatic Society to be held in Mysuru on Jan.6 and 7, 2018.
