Mysuru: Nurses are the backbone of any hospital or nursing homes and only if nursing care is good does the healthcare in that hospital become excellent, said Cauvery Hospital and Cauvery Group of Institution Director Dr. Chandrashekar.

He was speaking at the International Nurses Day 2019 celebrations organised by the BGS International Foundation for Health Sciences at its premises on Adichunchanagiri Road, Kuvempunagar here this morning and said that the theme this year is “Nurses-A Voice to lead Health for all.”

The most important aspect of the foundation for the nurses is their training and quality treatment and once the nursing students learn this efficiently, then they will be the most sought after by any hospital, he said.

Surgeon and Sigma Hospital Director Dr. G. Siddesh said that nurses should always have the motto of ‘service with a smile.’ However, it is not so easy to adhere to this motto as they are under tremendous pressure from the colleagues, seniors, doctors and have to tackle patients and their wards attitudes. Only if they overcome all these pressures can they serve with a smile, he added.
