Nurses are healthcare sector’s backbone: Regional Commr.

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru Regional Commissioner Nitesh Patil said that nurses are like the backbone of  healthcare sector.

He was speaking at International Nurses Day celebration organised under the joint aegis of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, JSS College of Nursing and JSS School of Nursing at Rajendra Centenary Hall in JSS Hospital premises here recently.

Pointing out that nurses play a key role in medical care, Nitesh Patil said that the services of  nurses in taking care of patients facing health crisis is very crucial.

“There can be no healthcare in the absence of nurses and this was very much evident during COVID crisis. Society has now been recognising the role of nurses, which is laudable,” he said.

Sudha Mrutyunjayappa, Managing Trustee of Mrutyunjyappa Foundation, in her address, said that the services of Florence Nightingale is a model to the entire world and called upon nurses to emulate her in service.

Several nurses were felicitated on the occasion for their service. Also, the winners of ‘Nasha Muktha Bharat’ Marathon were distributed prizes.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath presided.

JSS Hospital Director Dr. C.P. Madhu, Medical Education section Director R. Mahesh, JSS Hospital Nursing Services Head Janette Mathias and others were present on the occasion.
