Mysuru: MYCAS College celebrated International Women’s Day recently by felicitating nurses from various hospitals in Mysuru.
Among those honoured were Padma from Arya Hospital, Sunitha Nagarajegowda from Prajwal Hospital, Vijaya Kumari from Nanjangud Government Hospital, Daya Kumari from K.R. Hospital and Madhumalathi from H.D. Kote Government Hospital.
The event also highlighted and recalled the nurses’ life-risking service during the pandemic, acknowledging their unwavering dedication and sacrifice.
Dr. M.B. Chitra, ESI Medical Officer, Mysuru, and T. M. Prabhavati, an entrepreneur in textile and garment industry, were the chief guests.
In her speech, Dr. Chitra emphasised that women have been able to reach great heights due to the blessings of elders and guidance of parents. She highlighted that love, care, patience, sacrifice, mental and physical strength are essential in medical profession, as they lead to inner satisfaction in service.
Prabhavati said that while women were once restricted to certain roles, today they have a presence in every field. She attributed this progress to women’s self-confidence and determination to achieve their goals.
C. Archana, Principal of MYCAS PU College, Dr. T.J. Ramya, Lead Student and Faculty Development, as well as heads of various departments, faculty members, non-teaching staff were present.
