Sir,
The suggestions put forth by Jayaprakash Rao for consideration by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) regarding E-Khatha / Aasthi vis-à-vis property tax collection (SOM dated May 12) appear useful only in theory.
In this context, I wish to point out that obtaining an E-Khatha / Aasthi itself has become a herculean task. I would like to narrate my bitter experience with the process.
As per the prescribed procedure, all relevant documents related to one’s property have to be submitted online, either personally or through a KarnatakaOne Centre. Accordingly, my daughter and I submitted the documents about our properties situated in R.S. Naidu Nagar in the last week of February 2026 and obtained an acknowledgement for the same.
Later, as required, when we approached the MCC Zone-10 Office at Udayagiri, Mysuru, for further action, the official concerned checked our application online and asked us to return after one month.
A few days later, we received an SMS from DMA Karnataka stating that our applications were being processed further. Meanwhile, we paid the property tax online at the beginning of April 2026 in order to avail the 5 percent rebate.
Thereafter, we approached the MCC Udayagiri Office umpteen times regarding the matter, but in vain, as either the dealing official or the Revenue Officer was unavailable due to field work or other responsibilities.
Fortunately, last week we were able to meet both the official concerned and the Revenue Officer, only to learn that our request for E-Khatha / Aasthi had been rejected.
When we sought the reason for the rejection, we were merely told that the authorities had rejected the application and that the entire process would have to be initiated afresh online.
If the reason for rejection is not communicated to applicants, how can they rectify the shortcomings in their next submission?
I therefore request the authorities concerned to simplify and streamline the process of obtaining E-Khatha / Aasthi, which would greatly help citizens, particularly senior citizens like me.
