Official asks hostel workers to ensure student-friendly atmosphere

Mysore/Mysuru: Backward Classes Welfare Department District Officer Raghavendra said that Hostel workers must ensure that a cordial atmosphere is in place in   student Hostels.

He was speaking at a one-day re-orientation workshop organised at the Department’s Women’s Hostel in Raghavendranagar here recently.

Pointing out that most of the hostel inmates of Backward Classes Department Hostels come from poor and rural background families, he said that parents will admit their wards in these hostels believing that a conducive learning atmosphere prevails in these hostels. In this backdrop, the hostel workers and wardens must ensure that a conducive atmosphere prevails in practicality in the hostels.

Stressing on the need for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the vicinity of the hostels, Raghavendra said that a constant vigil must be kept during food preparation. He asked the hostel cooks to prepare quality food and maintain cleanliness, thinking that it is their own home.

He also directed for keeping the sump and overhead tanks clean and follow Government norms in running the hostels.

Taluk Welfare Officer Vishwanath, Extension Officer Satish, resource persons K.C. Sharanappa, Manjula, Mallanna, wardens Jagadish Kori, Yeshwanth, Ramya, Poornima Tejaswini, Bhagyalakshmi and others were present.
