Officials told to get ready for setting up paddy procurement centres

Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abhiram G. Sankar has asked the officials to get prepared for setting up paddy procurement centres in the district under the Minimum Support Prize (MSP) Scheme-2018.

Chairing a meeting of officials at his office here on Saturday, Abhiram Sankar said that paddy procurement will be done as per the price announced for 2017-18 Rabi season. Pointing out that procurement will commence from July and go on till the end of August, he said that Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation will be the modal agency for procurement.

Stating that 3,93,350 Quintals of paddy have been grown in 7,867 hectares in Mysuru district, the DC said that the registration of farmers for procurement will commence on July 2.

He asked the farmers to produce samples of their crop variety and get them authenticated, before bringing their produce to the procurement centres.

Declaring that paddy will be purchased at Rs.1,550 per Quintal, he said that procurement centres will be set up at APMC yard in Bandipalya, APMC yards at Nanjangud, T-Narasipur, Bannur, K.R. Nagar and Saragur and Srirama Sugar Factory, Chunchanakatte,    K.R. Nagar taluk.

Food & Civil Supplies Dy. Director Dr. K. Rameshwarappa, Jt. Director of Agriculture Somasundar, APMC Secretary Mahesh and Dy. Director Nanjundaswamy attended the meeting.
