Mysore/Mysuru: Online fraudsters on the pretext of doubling money in share market have duped a city resident of Rs. 1.77 crore.

The victim, a 51-year-old resident of J.P. Nagar in city, received a message on his WhatsApp in December about doubling money in share market and trading.

The resident was then made to download Polen Cap mobile app and got him registered for online trading besides asking him to invest money in it following which the city resident invested a total of Rs. 1.77 crore in phases.

Later, when he tried to withdraw the money in the app, he got a message stating that the money has been kept on freeze.

Realising that he has been cheated, the city resident lodged a complaint at CEN (Cyber, Economic and Narcotic) Crime Police Station.
