Mysore/Mysuru: The District Administration and Kannada & Culture Department have organised District-level Onake Obavva Jayanti 2023-24 at Mini Theatre in Kalamandira on Nov. 11 at 11 am.

The event will be inaugurated by Social Welfare and District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa in the presence of Chief Minister Siddharamaiah. Minister for Animal Husbandry and Sericulture K. Venkatesh will be the guest of honour. Chamaraja MLA K. Harishgowda will preside, according to a press release from Assistant Director of Kannada & Culture Department Dr. M.D. Sudarshan.

Mayor Shivakumar, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, Chamarajanagar MP V. Sreenivasa Prasad and Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh will be the chief guests.

MLAs Tanveer Sait, G.T. Devegowda, C. Anil Kumar, D. Ravishankar, G.D. Harish Gowda, Darshan Dhruvanarayan & T.S. Srivatsa, MLCs Marithibbegowda, A.H. Vishwanath, Dr. D. Thimmaiah & Madhu G. Madegowda and Deputy Mayor Dr. G. Roopa will be the guests.

Assistant Professor Dr. T. Ramesh will be the main speaker.

Fancy Dress Contest

As part of Onake Obavva Jayanti, a fancy dress competition has been organised for school and college students aged below 18 years.

The competition will be organised in two age categories — below 12 years and 13-18 years.

Interested students should register their names before 9 am of the competition day (Nov. 11) and must be present at Mini Theatre by 10 am on that day. Every participating students will be given a certificate.
